'Jade of time' Shan Yichun
Drawing inspiration from the “Parable of the Magic City” in the Lotus Sutra, I wanted to shape the journey through a series of flowing micro-worlds — fleeting encounters that seem to drift past the protagonist, yet quietly transform the course of her path. “Light Within the Jade” — “Voyage Through the Mist” — “The Shore Above the Sky” became the spiritual beginning of this journey. An elder secretly sews a pearl into the child’s robe, yet the child remains unaware. The Buddha conjures an illusory city for weary travelers, allowing them to rest before continuing onward. Across the black ocean, the distant phantom shore slowly arrives for her, allowing the pearl and jade to emerge from the mud and sand. “She” is not moving toward the distant shore. She simply realizes that the shore has been growing toward her all along.
